Adhesion
Cross-cut with knife and ruler with 3 cross and 3 length cuts, 1 mm distance, after that TESA tear-off with adhesive tape 3M SCOTCH BRAND 616 after an reaction time of 1 min.
Water resistance
24 hours storage in tap water at 20°C must not affect the paint films (Nail test after 5 min. regeneration) This test can be extended according to each requirement. More than 5 days was up to now the highest requirement.
Imprint ability
The print film has to be describable with a water-based as well as solvent-based Edding without drawing together the script/form (Edding 3000 and Edding 8500). The refining is checked via a quick-test. For example the adhesion of silk screen printing process must not only be the case, the paint has to influence also the resistances of the print colour positively.
Recoat ability
The paint film has to be self-coatable. (Adhesion test please see 1.). This examination will be done after 1 day and after 7 days.
Free of yellowing
On over-stoving 10 min. 210°C the paint must not yellow. A very low yellowing is allowed. This test is important for the further refining with the hot foil for stamping.
Water resistance 50°C
In case of water resistance of 50 min. in 50°C warm water it must not come to de-adhesion. Adhesion test as under item1.) Described and particle test. An elastic particle must be taken-off at the particle test. It is tested after a regeneration time of 2 min. and 60 min.
Pencil hardness
The pencil hardness which has to be achieved is H4, H2 is just acceptable.
Scratch resistance
a)Quick test:
To verify the scratch resistance of 10 rubs with a hand brush. The assessment is made via a gloss measurement. When measuring of degree of gloss. On measuring a black mat cardboard is put under the glass square. The gloss decline will be determined after 1 hour regeneration and after 24 hours regeneration.
b)Exact regulation:
For exact examination of the scratch resistance a Crockmeter test will be made instead of a hand brush according to Daimler standard PBODC390. 10 double rubs are made with 3M paper. The evaluation is made as described under the quick test.
c)Determination by means of rubbing with a paper:
For testing the scratch resistance 10 rubs are taken with paper. The evaluation will be done visually.
d)Determination by means of rubbing bottles to each other:
For testing the scratch resistance 2 bottles are rubbed to each other. The abrasion will be evaluated.
e)Determination by means of scratching with the fingernail:
It is scratched with a fingernail on the bottle. The scratch traces are evaluated.
